In Memorian Fryderyck Chopin
Chopin's famous nocturne recieves a modern treatment by Ronald Royer.
This composition borrows material directly from Chopin and transforms in into a lyrical and rhapsodic exploration. Ron comissioned me to arrange this for piano and solo clarinet and cello. It was quite a tricky task since Ron himself is a cellist and a very idiomatic string writer. He really enjoys those special textures that can be conjured up from a modern string orchestra. The challenge for me was to find a way to translate this into something that sounds equally natural and effective for the piano.
